Smriti is a better producer than an actor – Karan Mehra

Karan Mehra, last seen in Virrudh, has bagged a new show Pari Hoon Main which hit the airwaves on 28th January. After expressing shock over the sudden closure of Virrudh, Karan, who celebrated his birthday on December 28th, got the perfect birthday gift in form of Pari Hoon Main.

Speaking on this development Karan says, “Once the shooting of Virrudh had come to a grind, I went home to Delhi to celebrate my birthday and the New Year. I received the offer around my birthday and I was to quick accept this gift from the Chopra clan.”

What’s the difference in working for Smriti and Chopra? Karan replies, “There’s not much difference on the professional front. But I’d like to point out that Smriti is a better producer than an actress. In no way am I undermining her acting prowess, the whole industry is aware about it. It’s just that as a producer, she takes more care of us.”

Does it mean that BR.Films lags behind? Karan retorts “No. I’m being pampered here too. Before joining, I had heard praises of them and every bit of it is holding true. I hope, one day Raviji (Chopra) will cast me in his film.”

Karan, who plays his namesake in the show, draws parallel between his real and reel life character. Says he “Often, people associate me as the macho man, one who loves to ride bikes and possesses the ‘yo’ attitude. My character in Pari is the antithesis to my previous roles. However, in reality I’m a chicken-hearted person. Karan is a small time assistant director who dreams big and aspires to befriend the most beautiful actress Pari Rai Chaudhary. I played a funny character in Shanno Ki Shaddi but this is my first full-fledged comedy role.”

Though, he wasn’t among the big names in Virrudh, Karan impressed one an all as Vedant. Now that, he’s an integral part of Pari Hoon Main, doesn’t it raise expectations? The actor quips, “Despite the elite ensemble cast of Virrudh, I managed to make a mark for myself. Fan expectations will be high but I firmly believe that I’ll able to handle this role as it’s very close to me. As a person, I’m very jovial. S, I’m getting to play myself.”
